Pam Ratner, PhD, FCAHS, RN, Professor UBC School of Nursing, is appointed for a one-year term beginning July 1, 2013.
Dr. Ratner has provided considerable leadership and service to the University and broader communities, serving as the School of Nursing’s Associate Director, Systems and Strategic Development and PhD Program Coordinator and Graduate Advisor. Her research, based in socio-behavioural epidemiology and psychometrics, focuses on heart disease risk reduction, particularly health behaviour, including smoking cessation and tobacco control, risk perception, symptom expression and recognition, and treatment seeking. She has also examined the role of gender and ethnicity in influencing these behaviours. Pam and her partners have secured close to $10 million in research funding.
Pam’s contributions have been recognized with several awards, including the prestigious Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences. She received a Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research, Senior Scholar Award.
