Congratulations to two UBC Faculty of Education alumni who have recently received the Prime Minister’s Award for Teaching Excellence:
Tiffany Poirier (BEd, 2006; MEd, 2012) is one of 10 elementary and secondary teachers chosen nationwide to receive the Prime Minister’s Certificate of Excellence. Tiffany is a Challenge Teacher for Gifted Education at Prince Charles Elementary in the Surrey School District. She has written and illustrated a children’s book, presented at TEDxVictoria and the World Gifted Conference, and been interviewed and had her class featured on the CBC.
Scott Ormiston (BEd, 1982) is among 54 teacher recipients of the Prime Minister’s Certificate of Achievement. Scott is an educator in Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows, where his innovative methods in supporting at-risk students have proven overwhelmingly successful. Scott was co-winner of the 2014 UBC Faculty of Education Alumni Teaching Award.
